CCTV Cameras: Your A-Z guide

CCTV is one of the most commonly used security systems for small businesses, large corporations, buildings, and homes.

The reason they’re so widely used is because simply put, they're as reliable and affordable as you can get. CCTV cameras don't cost much, they’re very effective, and versatile - you can use different cameras and set-ups for different scenarios, including both indoor and outdoor.

If you’re interested in making a home, building, or business more secure, we suggest you start with a CCTV security camera enquiry.

What is a CCTV security camera, and what does it stand for?

CCTV is a security video camera used to monitor parts of your home or office.

It’s commonly used by small businesses, airports, large corporations, and residential homes as a surveillance measure.

CCTV stands for closed circuit television, and is one of the most effective, widely used, and affordable security surveillance systems businesses and homeowners can use.

What are the benefits of a CCTV camera system?

Peace of mind

With CCTV, any shady behaviour in or around your premises will be caught on camera.

Discouraging crime

Criminals will think twice if they see a formidable security camera system set-up.

Monitor from anywhere

With the right setup, one can monitor their home or business wherever they are.

Works well with other security measures

For example, an alarm system or a video intercom. A fortress can be built with the right system and security tools.

Putting the bad guys behind bars

Or fining them - much easier to do when footage catches criminals in the act.

Pay less insurance

insurance costs will be reduced with a CCTV security camera setup.

Cost-effective

All things considered, CCTV doesn’t cost much to set up at all - especially compared to other more intricate security systems.

CCTV installation in Sutherland and the surrounding area

CCTV security systems should always be installed by a leading and experienced service provider.

One shouldn’t take chances with security – the installation work should be done by a master security technician – the installer shouldn’t be an apprentice, cheap labour, or uncle Joe.

They should be fully licensed, qualified and insured.

Quick & Easy Process

CCTV Maintenance and Repair

Maybe an existing system just needs to be looked over. We can make sure it’s all running smoothly, and fix any faults if needed.

There’s also some compliance considerations – especially for apartment buildings.

It goes without saying that an overall security system, including CCTV, needs to be functioning at an optimal level. There’s no point in having security devices that don’t work correctly. Regular maintenance of your security equipment is essential for the safety of any home, building, or business.

At CGF, we’ve got you covered.

What should I consider when choosing a CCTV security camera?

What are the other types of security cameras?

The main alternative to CCTV technology is an IP camera.

In short, it’s a better technology, but much more expensive.

With an IP camera, one can access the live feed or recorded footage from anywhere, as long as the internet is in range. It can also be stored on a cloud. The resolution is much greater.

Despite it being a very impressive technology and very flexible, because of its high cost it’s typically not recommended for most home, business, and large scale scenarios like apartments – in almost all cases, CCTV does the trick and is much easier to maintain in the long-run.

Do you stock UNV, Bosch, Hikvision, Dahua, and Hills branded products for your security systems?

Yes, we stock all of the above – at CGF, we only work with the best quality and safest electrical security products.
