Battery Storage Systems Sydney

Store your solar and use it anytime. Cheap batteries fail when you need them most. CGF installs quality home and business battery storage across Sydney. Accredited installers, AS/NZS 5139 compliant, upfront quotes.

A Battery That Actually Works When the Grid Goes Down

Cheap batteries and rushed installs might look good on a quote but they let you down the moment there’s a blackout. If you’re investing in battery storage, you want something that keeps your lights on, your fridge running and your bill down, not a glorified paperweight bolted to the garage wall.

CGF takes a different approach. We’re licensed residential electricians who specialise in battery storage systems for homes and businesses across Sydney. Every install is built around how you actually use power: when you’re home, what you’re running and how much backup you need if the grid drops out. No generic packages, no subcontractors, no shortcuts.

All our battery installations meet AS/NZS 5139, the Australian Standard that governs the safety and installation of battery energy storage systems, including the latest Amendment 1 requirements around spacing and ventilation. Your system is compliant, safe and done right the first time.

Solar panels without a battery send your excess power back to the grid for a few cents, then you buy it back at full price in the evening. A battery changes that equation completely. You store what you generate during the day and use it at night. Your bills drop. Your blackout protection kicks in. And you’re far less exposed to whatever the energy retailers decide to do with their rates next year. If you’ve already got solar, we can retrofit a battery. If you’re starting fresh, we’ll design the whole system, panels, inverter and battery, to work together efficiently from day one.
Stop sending your solar to the grid for peanuts. A properly sized home battery stores your excess generation and powers your house through the evening peak, overnight and during outages.

We install batteries for houses, units and new builds across Sydney. A 5kWh battery starts from around $5,000 installed, while a 15kWh system sits closer to $15,000. Most households land somewhere in the 5–10kWh range, which runs roughly $7,000 to $12,000 installed, depending on the brand and your existing setup.

Whether you want full backup for blackouts, bill savings or to get your home ready for an EV down the track, we design the system around your actual usage, not a one size fits all spreadsheet. See our solar, battery and EV charger services.

Power outages don’t just annoy your team. They cost you money. Stock spoils, equipment shuts down and customers walk away. A commercial battery system keeps your critical circuits live and your operations running.

We work with clinics, offices, retail stores, warehouses and more. Our commercial electrical team sizes every system around your load profile: what you’re drawing, when you’re drawing it and what can’t afford to go offline. The goal is real backup and genuine savings on your demand charges, not just a token battery that covers the lights.

Site assessment and load analysis

We look at your panels, your usage patterns and your switchboard before recommending anything. Older boards may need a switchboard upgrade first. And there’s no point selling you a 15kWh battery if a 5kWh unit covers your overnight load.

Battery and inverter selection

We only install trusted brands with real local support. Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh usable capacity with integrated hybrid inverter) is a popular choice but we’ll recommend what suits your setup and budget, not just the name everyone knows.

AC or DC coupling

If you’re adding a battery to existing solar, an AC coupled system is usually the simpler and cheaper path (90–94% round trip efficiency). If you’re installing solar and battery together, DC coupling can be 3–5% more efficient because it avoids an extra conversion step. We’ll talk through what makes sense for your situation.

Clean installation to AS/NZS 5139

Correct ventilation, compliant spacing, DC rated isolation and proper circuit protection. The Amendment 1 update to AS/NZS 5139 changed requirements around distance from openings, and we’re across it.

Smart monitoring setup

Real time visibility of your generation, storage and consumption from your phone. Know exactly what’s happening with your power, any time.

Backup circuit configuration

We wire your essential loads; fridge, lights, internet, medical equipment onto a dedicated backup circuit so they stay alive when the grid drops.

Grid connection and rebates sorted

We handle the paperwork with your network provider and claim every dollar of the federal battery rebate you’re entitled to under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Under the tiered structure from May 2026, the first 14kWh of usable capacity receives the full rate.

VPP ready if you want it

Virtual Power Plant programs in NSW pay you to share a small amount of stored energy during peak grid events. Incentives sit around $30 to $60 per kWh of connected capacity for batteries between 2 and 28kWh. We can set your system up to participate from day one or leave it ready for later.

Why Choose Us for Battery Storage

FAQs – Battery Storage Sydney

No. You can install a battery without solar. It’ll charge from the grid during off peak times and discharge when rates are high. But most people pair a battery with solar to maximise savings and energy independence.
The federal government runs the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which provides an upfront discount on eligible battery systems. From May 2026, the rebate uses a tiered structure; the first 14kWh of capacity gets the full rate. Tesla is also offering their own rebate of up to $1,500 for Powerwall installations for orders placed before 30 June 2026. We handle all the paperwork and make sure you get every dollar you’re entitled to.
Yes, if it’s configured for backup. We wire your essential circuits; fridge, lights, internet, medical gear onto a dedicated backup circuit. When the grid goes down, your battery takes over automatically. Not all installers set this up properly. We do.
DC coupled systems connect directly to your solar panels and are 3–5% more efficient because there’s one less conversion step. They’re ideal for new solar plus battery installs. AC coupled batteries are easier to retrofit onto existing solar systems and are generally simpler and cheaper for that scenario. We’ll recommend what suits your setup.
