Electrician & Security Systems in Miranda

Protecting Miranda Properties

Need a sparky to sort the switchboard and someone to set up cameras at the front door? In Miranda, that’s the same team.

CGF Security & Electrical does licensed electrical work and professional security installation for homes, apartment blocks and businesses, from family streets near Miranda Park to the shops and clinics along the Kingsway. We’re based in Caringbah, about five minutes away, so getting to you is easy.

CCTV Cameras

Store bought cameras are fine until the moment you need them. Then the footage is blurry, the Wi Fi dropped out or the clip never saved. Our CCTV systems record continuously in high resolution, with infrared night vision that picks up faces, clothing and number plates in total darkness.

Get an alert when someone’s at the front door, driveway or backyard. Check the kids got home without texting them five times. Watch the courier drop your parcel, so you know exactly where it is. Footage is clear enough to hand straight to police or your insurer.

Alarms

Our alarm systems put sensors on every door and window and alert your phone the moment one is triggered, showing exactly which sensor and when. Use home mode at night so the ground floor stays armed while you move freely upstairs. Give the cleaner a code that only works on their day and get a notification when they arrive and leave.

Want someone else watching too? With back to base monitoring, trained operators respond around the clock. They call you first and if they can’t confirm you’re safe, they send a patrol or call police, even if your phone is dead or you’re on a plane.

Video Intercoms

See who’s at the gate before you open the door. Answer from your phone while you’re at work, check the tradie’s ID on video and let them in remotely, so there are no more keys under the mat. It’s a big reassurance for families with young kids or older parents who are wary of door to door scams. Pair it with your cameras to check whether there’s a car in the driveway or someone waiting out of view.

EV Chargers and Batteries

We install Level 2 and three phase chargers for Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Kia, MG and Volvo. Each one gets a dedicated circuit and RCD protection and is positioned within about three metres of where you park. Most installs take just a few hours.

Have solar? We can connect your charger to it so the car runs on your own sunshine. Add a solar battery and your daytime power runs the house at night. We size it to your usage, then handle grid connection, setup and monitoring.

Switchboard Upgrades

Flickering lights, circuits that keep tripping, or an old ceramic fuse box? Those are the signs your switchboard can’t keep up. Adding air con or an EV charger makes it worse. We fit modern circuit breakers and RCD safety switches and balance the load across circuits so nothing is overworked. All work meets Australian Standards and the power is only off for a few hours.

Renovations, Extensions and Granny Flats

Our residential electricians work with you and your builder from the first wire to the final fit off, covering switchboard installation, lighting design and power point placement. Updating the kitchen, adding a granny flat out the back or building from scratch, we keep to your timeline and keep you in the loop.

Smoke Alarms

NSW requires working smoke alarms on every level. We install hardwired photoelectric alarms with battery backup, which pick up the slow, smouldering fires that often start in homes. We interconnect them so they all sound together and test everything to AS 3786 before we leave.

Miranda’s apartment blocks have dozens or even hundreds of residents sharing entries, car parks, gyms, pools and storage. We upgrade old intercoms with crackly audio or dead screens to video intercom systems with touchscreen directories and phone answering. Couriers find the right unit fast and residents don’t have to run downstairs.

Access control gives each resident a fob for the main entry, their parking level and the facilities they use, with a log of every entry. When someone moves out, their fob is deactivated in seconds. It’s linked to the intercom, so residents can grant guests temporary access from anywhere.

From shops around Westfield Miranda to clinics, offices, warehouses and childcare centres, every business has different risks. Our security team and our commercial electricians work together on lighting upgrades, data cabling, fit outs, test and tag, cameras, alarms and access control, so you only deal with one contractor.

Retail: Visible cameras deter shoplifters, while discreet ones watch registers and back of house areas. Point of sale integration links footage to each transaction, which settles customer disputes and exposes fake refunds. Alarms arm when the last person leaves and disarm when the first arrives.

Clinics, dental and salons: Practitioners get access during their own hours only, with no master keys floating around. When someone leaves, you cancel their credential instead of rekeying. Restricted zones protect medication and patient records.

Offices: Cameras at entries, out of hours access control and extra secure zones for server rooms and confidential files.

Warehouses: Camera layouts are mapped to remove blind spots across floors, docks and storage, with cameras that handle dust, heat and low light. Drivers get dock only access, contractor credentials expire automatically and every door swipe is tagged with video. Add outdoor security lighting for yards and car parks.

Childcare: Controlled entry that needs staff approval, logs of every adult in and out and CCTV over indoor and outdoor play areas. It’s all designed to keep drop off flowing and the centre feeling warm, not institutional.

Construction: Our temporary site security protects new builds and renovations after hours.

Power out, outlets sparking, or a burning smell from the switchboard? We run 24/7 with fully stocked vans, so we can make it safe and fix most faults on the first visit. For the non urgent stuff, our maintenance and repairs team handles inspections, fault finding and those jobs you’ve been putting off.

We start by listening, not pitching. You’ll get a free on site consultation, honest advice on what you need versus what’s just nice to have and a fixed quote. We install neatly, train you on your system and we’re still here in the Shire years later if you need us.

Miranda, Yowie Bay, Kareela, Gymea, Kirrawee, Caringbah, Cronulla, Sylvania, Sutherland, Engadine, Menai and the rest of our Sydney service areas.

FAQs: Electrician and Security Systems Miranda

A regular licensed electrician handles everything inside your property: wiring, switchboards, lights and chargers. A Level 2 electrician is accredited to work on the connection between your home and the Ausgrid network, such as service mains, meters and overhead lines. Most jobs only need a licensed electrician. If your supply needs upgrading, a Level 2 is also required.

No. In NSW, all fixed electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician. DIY work is illegal, can void your home insurance and is one of the most common causes of electrical fires and shocks.

Yes. A solar aware charger diverts your excess solar into the car instead of exporting it to the grid. It works best if you’re home during the day or charge on weekends. Adding a battery lets you store that solar for overnight charging too.

It usually needs its own sub board fed from your main switchboard, so its circuits are protected and can be isolated separately. Whether it also needs a separate meter depends on your plans, such as renting it out. We’ll talk through the options at the planning stage.

Yes. Home mode, sometimes called stay mode, keeps doors, windows and ground floor sensors armed while turning off the motion sensors you’d trip walking around upstairs. You’re protected without being stuck in bed.

Yes. Point of sale integration overlays transaction data on your footage, so you can search by sale, refund or till number and see exactly what happened. It’s the fastest way to sort out till shortages and refund fraud.

No. With access control, the building manager deactivates that fob in seconds and it stops working on every door immediately. The resident can keep the fob, because it won’t open anything.

Every 10 years, or sooner if they fail testing. Check the date on the back of each alarm. Hardwired alarms with battery backup should also be tested monthly by pressing the test button.

NSW work health and safety laws require businesses to keep electrical equipment safe. Testing and tagging to AS/NZS 3760 is the standard way to show you’ve done that. How often depends on your environment and many landlords and insurers expect it, so ask us for a testing schedule.

Usually a few hours to half a day. Your power is off during the upgrade, so we book it in at a time that suits you.

The monitoring centre works through your contact list. If no one confirms everything is safe, they send a security patrol or contact police, depending on what the alarm shows.

Many of the systems we install work with smart home apps, letting you control cameras, alarms, intercoms and lighting from one place. We’ll recommend options that fit the gear you already use.
